12/5 Journey Begins

The time has arrived. After a months of preperation it is time to head to the airport and start the journey.

The two 33 gallon containers are checked with no problems. They weighed 71 pounds and 72 pounds, but after taking a book out so that one was under 70 pounds, they let them both pass. Zip ties put through all the holes, and off they went.

After passing through security (including the new ritual removing of the shoes) I was waiting at the gate for the flight to Amsterdam. I sat down to rest and just realized I forgot to pack charger for laptop. This would mean after the 6 or so hours, the laptop would be useless. So, I called my friend Judith, who happily ran it down for me and saved the day! And with time to spare I was back at the gate. (having removed my shoes again of course).

Flight from Seattle was not even half full. Nice flight, not remarkable and typically quiet. Pulling in to Amsterdam, took forever to open the doors since the plane was not positioned right. When everyone was already standing the plane lurched and people lost their balance. Then they had to call for a tow to get positioned.
