We loaded up the trotro and headed to a branch of the Volta Lake. We watched the Afamplains to Tokor ferry come in. These ferries come with wooden plank decks. Emmanuel took some of us on the ferry and on a fishing boat.
We came back through Kpando and hung out at bar painted with the bubbles, as many are. This is one of Akpene's favorite places. We have to be careful of the bats in the trees, so cover your drink!
On the bottom starting at the left is George, Eve Rebecca, Akpene (Janell) and Regina. Standing, from the left is Emmanual, Megan, Bob, Tracy, Marilyn, Tony, Anandan, Chris, Jamie, the hostess, Bill, Marty and Peter.
After we got back, there was a special treat in store. We were honored with the slaughter of a goat at George's compound. Nothing gets wasted! While the goat was being cut up we got an impromptu biology lesson :-)
We were joined by Cameron, from Australia, who stayed the night with us. He'd been traveling in the north. He's been playing djembe for years.
George had an interesting story to tell. It seems some time ago there was a presidential visit, and George met with Bill Clinton as part of a cultural presentation.
